Sound Therapy
Sound Energy – What is Audio Therapy & Sound Healing?
It is a audio therapy which uses sound from a variety of instruments and the voice, to re-balance your energy on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level to promote health and well-being.
The sound can detect areas of imbalance in the body and used to re-balance the area. For example if energy is stuck and stagnant the sound may be muffled or clipped I would then use instruments to clear and lift the sound and therefore the energy.
How does it work?
Well here comes the science bit. Current research shows that everything is made up of energy, e.g. the chair you’re sitting on, the computer you are using, the food you eat, every person, every object, everything around us is made up of energy which vibrates at different frequencies. Sound can get right to the core and can clear and transform blocked energy.
Sound also affects brain-wave frequencies and so sound therapy can take us into deeper states of relaxation and healing, sound therapy is ideal for those suffering from stress or anxiety. Have you ever had one of those days were you felt flat? Where your get up and go, has got up and went? Well you were probably vibrating at a low level but, if you were to play your most absolute favourite piece of music (which will definitely be of a higher vibration than you at that point), you would likely start smiling even before you play it and when the music starts it will very likely lift your spirits even more.
Scientists call this entrainment, where a lower vibration locks into a higher vibration to raise its frequency. Intention is also a very important factor when working with sound healing because…, if you think about it we use sound therapy in everyday life. For example, if your intention is to get your baby to sleep you would play a soft and gentle lullaby and if you are an aerobics instructor you would play loud music with a fast beat to raise the energy in the room and in your class participants.
What does a sound healing or audio therapy session entail?
Generally you would be lying down, although if this is not possible you can sit or stand. A variety of instruments and sometimes voice for toning or chanting will be used to re-balance the client’s energy. The first part of the session, uses instruments like the symphonic gong, crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, bells, chimes etc, takes you into a meditative state/a state of deep relaxation followed by a rhythm and grounding section, which uses instruments like the Native American flute, shakers, rain sticks, drums, didgeridoo etc, gradually brings you back again.
What are the benefits?
